part 2 of the simple, maybe release reveals the dark side of the brothers schwarz. yeah ought to be taken literally. batten down the hatches and turn up the volume, here comes a true masterpiece. naturally, tiefschwarz have saved the banger until last. there are not many tracks out there, which make you get up and dance after two bars already. the basis of yeah is a perfectly orchestrated drum beat. a steady bass drum, rolling toms, a crisp snare, all together powered by a low-pitch synth sample in the background. a sound, that is as offensive and sentimental as possible at the same time. add a well-filtered choir sample on top and you get a deepness and amplitude that can only be mastered by the finest soundsystems on the planet. like looking through a burning glass, the break shows what tiefschwarz are really all about with this track: gradually, all sound elements are shut down, overlayed by white noise that comes with goosebumps guarantee. this spring, youll better be on the dancefloor, when the drums set in again! deininger on the b-side is an almost gloomy track, driven by a dark deep-house bass line. once again, tiefschwarz play with a wide range of elements: an off-beat synth wind section, dry tinker bells and sliced vocals, well-orchestrated by a fine mix. all together this creates the perfect atmosphere for a monday morning sun rise. exhausted, dried-out, longing for your bed and a glass of water, yet at the same time not wanting to go home. great music got soul, the perfect balance, that keeps the heart pumping and the body dancing. deininger is about this certain temper, the groove, that makes you carry on.

advanced underwater electronics by dj stingray. known for his collaborations with drexciya (as the official drexciyan dj), and also know for his works with carl craig (on retroactive and planet e as urban tribe) and his collabs with old time friends moodymann and more of the detroit house producers. this is some deep almost industrial electro techno from the motor city and stingray presents another double pack (after his release on richard james rephlex label recently) with some raw, no nonsens dark shit from a dark (and some say doomed) city!!

made to play brings the noise with the sounds of wearhouse music and head honcho lee mortimer. lee mortimers exciting, sleazy, demented take on house has been kicking the sh*t out of dance floors and festivals the world over. this e.p is not for the faint hearted but is for those who like to rock a big crowd in a ballistic way. when jimi hendrix played not just one but both sides of it at woodstock in the 70s the place went off its tits and when he reverted back to playing the guitar it just couldnt compare and he never quite got over that. lee mortimer is currently reveling in mass support from the likes of switch, claude vonstroke, diplo and kriss akabusi who apparently likes to play these tracks as a post love ritual, naked and chanting awooga! round the camp fire he has in his bedroom. if you want to embellish the feeling of either hendrix or akabusi in the primes of their existences then get stuck into this release and youll feel like a combination of the two peaking on acid.

this is quite simply one of the most glorious records you will hear this year. it would be easy to lazily reference it against classic period rephlex/planet mu stuff (oops, i just did!), and indeed it appears to share some of the same heritage (even going so far as to feature a remix of rephlex artist global goon in its tracklisting) - but chris leary aka ochre is obviously a man on his own mission. gorgeously lush, but at the same time super-funky…as electronic as kraftwerk starring in a remake of tron, yet somehow as pastoral and organic as edward elgar…much like his label-mate ed chamberlain, leary manages that tricky task of being supremely technical in his programming and arrangements, but without losing the heart and soul of the music amidst all the studio trickery. you know that old chestnut often said when referring to vintage or classic music, >they dont make them like that any more<? well they do…and here it is! simply fantastic.

played by c-rock, d julz, gregor tresher, 2000 and one, minilogue and many more… like no other german producer, hannover-born martin buttrich has been decisively influencing the sound aesthetics of electronic dance music since the middle of the nineties. having been more in the background for most of the time while working for and with timo maas and loco dice among others, his benchmark releases for carl craigs label planet e or poker flat have also spotlighted his original name in the public. buttrichs second ep for cocoon couldnt prove better his prediction that in 2008, minimal techno will be containing more warm and melodic components. strangely familiar but always surprising, again and i lost my wallet provide us with bassprone reduction somewhere in between techno and house, and harmony bits that remind of caribbean calypso sounds provide the feeling of the approaching summer which makes both tracks perfect for the final of the open air season 2008. at least, buttrich will be an integral part of the season closing between ibiza main river and spree.
